Concepito nel 2018 da un’intuizione di Cristina Giudici e dal desiderio di una narrazione corretta sull’immigrazione, svincolata da tesi precostituite, pregiudizi, demagogia e orientamenti politici che influenzano l’opinione pubblica e i comportamenti sociali. Il presupposto originale era l’urgenza di contrastare un dibattito polarizzato, che si basa esclusivamente sulla contrapposizione fra immigrato buono o cattivo. Considerato solo come risorsa o minaccia. E per questo motivo è partita un’operazione culturale che propone una narrazione laica per favorire la comprensione della trasformazione della nostra società.
Mission
Dopo una fase iniziale per costruire una community e un format appropriato di contenuti- coinvolgendo giornalisti, esperti, intellettuali, scrittori, politici e nuovi cittadini di origine straniera che hanno contribuito con testimonianze, riflessioni, analisi, a raccontare il mutamento sociale delle nuove generazioni di italiani– abbiamo verificato che la nostra visione andava nella giusta direzione. Quando abbiamo concepito il progetto, nel 2018, non si sapeva quasi nulla delle seconde generazioni di immigrati, dei nuovi italiani che sono medici, avvocati, artisti, musicisti, professionisti, influencer perché l’informazione è condizionata dagli stereotipi che portano a ignorare i cambiamenti. Successivamente abbiamo capito la portata della trasformazione avvenuta grazie alla presenza di cittadini stranieri e alla crescita delle nuove generazioni nate e cresciute in Italia.
Gli strumenti
Un sito internet, una newsletter settimanale, un podcast, video, canali social e progettazione di eventi tematici sono gli strumenti scelti da NuoveRadici.World per raccontare i figli della globalizzazione e perché il nostro orizzonte non deve limitarsi solo all’Italia. E, senza tralasciare i flussi migratori, potenzieremo gli strumenti per trasmettere la nostra visione.
Per questo motivo abbiamo creato anche un’associazione, Nuove Radici, che affiancherà la piattaforma per creare eventi, convegni, seminari, fare corsi di (in)formazione e allargare la nostra community.
Da questo presupposti parte il progetto NuoveRadici.World per descrivere e comunicare il fermento sociale e intellettuale che sta sbocciando oltre la linea d’ombra dell’emergenza.
Who we are
The project NuoveRadici.World (new roots) has been coinceved from an intuition by Cristina Giudici and a desire for a proper narrative on immigration, unchained from preconceived ideas, prejudices, demagogy and political ideologies shaping public opinion and social behaviour. What motivated us was the urgent need to counteract a polarised debate, exclusively based on juxtaposing the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ migrant. Thus, on 2018, a cultural operation was launched in order to propose, through the use of a multi-media platform, a secular narrative to foster a better understanding of the transformation in our society.
Our mission
Through a first phase we established a community as well as finding appropriate formats and contents. We invited journalists, experts, intellectuals, writers, politicians and new citizens of foreign origin to share their testimonies, thoughts and analyses about the world of integration, especially regarding social change among the new generations of Italians. This confirmed that our vision and the direction we were moving in were right. We discovered how deep the change and how complex the identity of the subjects of our narrative are; those whose roots are intertwined between their countries of origin (theirs or their parents’) and Italy, or elsewhere in Europe.
When we started, little was known about second generation migrants, the new Italians who are doctors, lawyers, artists, musicians, journalists, professionals, influencer because information is shaped by the political agenda and by stereotypes which lead us to ignore change.
We fully comprehended the extent of the transformation which has taken place thanks to the presence of foreign citizens and new generations born and raised in Italy. We are convinced that it is worthwhile communicating this more widely and in new ways with the aim of changing existing perceptions on immigration and integration premised on a narrative that is out of focus.
Our tools
A website, a weekly newsletter, a podcast, social media channels and the organisation of themed events are the chosen tools by NuoveRadici.World to describe the children of globalisation and because we have broadened our horizon, which should not be limited to Italy alone.Without losing sight of migration phenomena, we aim to strengthen the ways in which we convey our vision.
To this end, we have also created an association, Nuove Radici, that, alongside our digital platform, will offer events, conferences and seminarsas well as providing information and training courses in order to broaden our community.
Therefore, the NuoveRadici.World project has born to keep describing the social and intellectual ferment that is blossoming beyond the shadow of the emergency.
